How we can work together…

Individual Counseling

When you understand your past and the patterns you’re engaged in, you are freer to change what no longer works. Individual counseling provides you with a space to gain new insights, practice new ways of thinking and relating, and gain the courage to change.

Couples Counseling

Explore family-building concerns with your partner, such as difficulties with infertility, pregnancy loss, adjustment during the postpartum, consideration of adoption or foster parenting, or child-free living

Coaching for Individuals or Couples

Coaching is different from counseling. In coaching, we do not explore past influences or patterns, or healing from the past, as we would in counseling. Our coaching sessions would focus on exploration of:
Sometimes coaching and individual counseling are both recommended. However, it is strongly recommended that these be offered by different providers, rather than the same person.

Pre-Adoption Assessment

Some overseas countries require prospective parents to have an assessment by a Licensed Psychologist as part of their adoption paperwork and home study. I offer a customized assessment service designed to meet the particular requirements of your home study agency and sending country. At our free phone consultation, I will ask you to send me the assessment requirements which your agency social worker has given you, and we will form a plan for completing this step of the international adoption process with as little stress as possible!

Group Counseling

Joining a group of strangers may sound intimidating at first, but group therapy provides benefits that individual therapy may not. Psychologists say, in fact, that group members are almost always surprised by how rewarding the group experience can be. Groups can act as a support network and a sounding board. Other members of the group often help you come up with specific ideas for improving a difficult situation or life challenge, and hold you accountable along the way. You may often feel like you are the only one struggling — but you’re not. It can be a relief to hear others discuss what they’re going through, and realize you’re not alone.

FAQ

I’m in-network on a limited number of insurance panels. If I am out-of-network for your insurance panel, I can help you file for reimbursement by providing you with an invoice to submit for an out-of-network claim. Please call your insurance company Member Services to explore your plan’s benefits.

My specialties focus on issues unique to adults socialized as women/girls. This includes cis, trans women, gender nonconforming, and straight/bi/lesbian/questioning adults. My practice will never turn anyone away based on identity. If you would like to schedule a consultation to explore if I’m a good fit for your counseling wishes, I look forward to your phone call or contact form!

Therapy is a unique relationship between a client and psychologist, which is established solely for your needs and life’s goals. As such, it doesn’t have a set timeline. In our first three sessions, you and I will work together to define your goals and plan for an estimate of how many sessions to expect

Usually our work together starts out with weekly counseling, and some people eventually will taper down to 1-2 times per month

Great idea! Schedule a free phone consultation and then we will set up an initial appointment (intake) before getting started with the group.
My office hours are Monday through Friday, and my first appointment is at 9AM, last appointment is at 4PM. I offer teletherapy, hybrid, and in-office appointments.

I’m excited to announce that as of July 17, 2023, I have Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) granted by the PSYPACT Commission.
This means that the location of my telehealth clients is no longer restricted to the state of Texas. I am now able to conduct telepsychology with clients who are physically located in any of the participating PSYPACT states.

It is convenient to have assistance from insurance to cover counseling expenses, in the same way it covers medical expenses. As an out-of-network provider, I can help you file for reimbursement from your insurance plan if they offer out of network benefits. However, please be aware of the risks of using insurance for counseling. These include a loss of privacy over your private information. Your insurance company retains the right to request your counseling records, and will require a mental health diagnosis before authorizing payment of service. This is sometimes inappropriate and irrelevant to the services you are requesting, such as some group services, pre-adoption psychological assessment, seminar enrollment, or coaching sessions.
